GIFs in Snagit and Camtasia are now beige and dark

In the past, all my GIFs were true to color of the screen. Now they are dark and beige. Screenshots look good, but for some reason, the GIF is now dark and not as clear. Below are some examples from Camtasia that I made last year (the same thing happens in Snagit), and then made the same one (from the same Camtasia file) today. The only difference is that Snagit and Camtasia have updated and I am now on High Sierra.

Any Ideas on why this is happening? The white is now beige, colors are muted, and resolution is worse. SOOO Weird! I am doing the same thing every time, but now they look worse.

Thanks for any help!

Hi there

Have you looked at or played with these settings in the output? (For Camtasia)

Also, are you seeing this in the browser? If so, what browser? Chrome perhaps? If it's Chrome, you may need to tweak Chrome. I had that happen on my own setup. I'll have to find the info on that in case you come back and report that it's only happening in Chrome.

Cheers... Rick :)

I don't have Dithering checked. I just gave that a shot with no changes in output. Bummer...

These have the poor color/resolution in all browsers as well as on my Mac (in preview mode). Even the desktop icon is colored bad.

Thanks!

Hi Jeremy,

Apple made changes as to how macOS handles meta data in images between 10.13 and earlier versions. I think you might be seeing a side effect of this.

I think you'd be best served by opening a ticket with our technical support at https://support.techsmith.com.

Glenn,

Thanks for the info. I found the write up and tried the tool to help, but that does not seem to fix any of my GIFs. I will submit a ticket.

Thank you!
