Grab Text: Please add it to "Text" menu, so we can assign a keyboard shortcut to it

I've fallen in love with the Grab Text feature. I've been using it to grab tabular data that I then paste into a spreadsheet. I love how it somehow pastes into different spreadsheet columns automatically. A huge time saver as I don't have to manually type the data in.

The request here is to simply add "Grab Text" to the Snagit application's "Text" menu, so that we can assign whatever keyboard shortcut we want to it.

I want to be able to speed up my workflow.

Again, an easy win that I hope Techsmith puts into their next release. It also faciliates usage of this great feature.

totally agree this is an incredibly useful feature.  many thanks to whoever came up with it
I believe on the PC version I do have it assigned to a hot key
I just looked the mac version and I don't
If what the OP suggests will make that possible, please add to mac app!

Thanks for the question!

Good news is the "Grab Text" feature has a menu item under the "Edit" menu, with a hotkey of Cmd-Shift-O. I realize this solution falls a bit short of your request, in that you can't choose your own custom hotkey, but hopefully this helps out!

@Jason Oh wow - never thought to look there. What's editing got to do with grabbing text? Anyhow, I'll take it :)

Yeah, it is a bit counterintuitive. I believe the reasoning had to do with placing it with similar items, such as "Copy", "Copy All", as that's the primary action taken after Grab Text is complete. Whereas, the "Text" menu is grouped by items that can modify text.

Explanations aside, Grab Text is a bit of a unique case, the fact that it says "Text" in the name definitely leads you to think it should be in the "Text" menu. :)

I will pass along the feedback to our designers, thanks for pointing out the confusion, but glad it's going to work for you for the time being!
