Grouping segments AND adding speed

If I have 2 separate media segments, I know I cannot stitch them together, so the only way I know to have them as one is to group them. However, grouping two media segments seems to remove the option of adding speed to the overall group.

How could I have two (or more) segments, recorded separately, to be joined and then have a constant speed on everything at once?

Maybe it is using a different command or command name? I am using Camtasia 9

have you tried applying [the same] clip speed adjustments before grouping?

Yes I have. I can do that, but if I need a video to be exactly X number of seconds, then it becomes a math issue, so if all the segments were in "one", I could move the end to the exact time stamp I need to match.

then, with the 2 clips in a project,  apply any cursor effects, then produce as AVI or MP4; use the resulting video file in a new project, apply speed adjustments, then rock-and-roll

Yeah. Just more convoluted. I thought there was a "simple" function I might have been missing.
Thanks.
