Had it with Snagit!

The Snagit editor is the POOREST editor that I have ever used!!!  I wanted to put some text on my image, with a textbox-type background.  GOOD LUCK!  I can't find any way to fill the background so that the text can be read.  Now I know there is a way because I have played this game before, but I am just getting tired of spending an hour trying to find it.  And don't bother with the documentation.  A waste.

Do the Snagit developers ever use Word, for example?  And, I am not suggesting that Word is the ultimate, but at least after I click on a tool in Word I can "unclick" it.  Good luck with Snagit.  This is a "feature" that has been requested for YEARS, and would probably require about a dozen lines of code.  But, "No, we ain't goin' to do it!"  Sounds very Apple to me!

Anyway, I am now shopping for another screen grabber.  Any suggestions?  (And I have fought with Snagit since ver. 1---and paid for each one!  Oh, and paid for multiple versions of Camtasia, also.

Hi Larry;

It's unfortunate that you experienced issues with the text functionality. I can see how it might be beneficial to provide an option (perhaps a shortcut) in the Text tool that, if a user selects an option in the properties for a background, that it either recommends using a Callout, or provides a link directly to the Callouts function. I will pass that on to the right team.

The selection method that you mention is a good point and I'll pass it on; perhaps there could be a toggle in the settings or the tool's properties for maintaining the selection rather than deselecting after making the annotation (which allows users to quickly place multiple annotations in a row with the fewest clicks possible).
