Has anyone had any success using an Elgato Cam Link in Camtasia 3 (Mac) as USB Webcam link to DSLR?

I've been recommended an Elgato Cam Link to link my DSLR to Mac. This means I can avoid purchasing a webcam and take advantage of the better image quality and DOF from the DSLR.

My question, really, is will Camtasia 3 (Mac) recognise the Cam Link to allow recording on top of the screen recording? Does anyone have any experience (and success) with this method?

Thanks

Funny you should post this. I just bought online the Logitech 4K BRIO webcam and as soon as I get it I will see if Camtasia 3 (Mac) recognizes it AND the fact that it can record at 4K. Has anyone tried that?

Hi Ken and thanks for commenting!

Unfortunately Camtasia does not record a webcamera at 4k resolutions.

Hi Philipaveston and thanks for stopping by;

Camtasia does not officially support capture cards/adapters like the Elgato Cam Link (or similar hardware). That said it may work but I would like to preface that were there issues (e.g. if you plug the device in and Camtasia is not recognizing it) our Technical Support team would not be able to assist as those are devices we do not actively test or develop for.

Hi Robert. Thanks for your reply. I understand your position. At this point, I am simply interested in other users' experience as it feels a device like this would be very useful. If it works.

I will be testing a Cam Link shortly so, if you don't mind, I will share my experience here. And would still love to hear from anyone else who may have tried one.

Regards
Philip

Hi Philip!

We'd love to hear your experiences and feedback on attempting to use a capture device/adapter (like the Elgato Cam Link), as it may assist other users who come here with similar questions.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing about your results!
