Are there any improvements to synchronization of audio tracks in production in Camtasia 8?

Hi Jeff,

Yes! The rendering engine has been re-implemented, and audio sync issues should be much better now. Give it a try and let us know if you notice any issues in the latest version.

Keep in mind that if you migrate a project from CS7 that had sync issues, you may still see them if the sync issues were caused by project corruption. So, make sure to try creating a new project with the same media just to be sure.

Fuck everyone that works/worked on Camtasia. This is what C8 did to me:

- several crashes
- audio sync is way off after render, even if in the program it's perfect
- the interface moves sluggish on an i7 with 16gb of ram and a top of the line gaming video card
- if I render the video to desktop, when rendering is finished, the video is not there
- the audio graph is not accurate. It shows silence where the voice is talking

So to you and your colleagues, Randy: a big FUCK YOU!...for wasting 18 hours of my life working on a project that renders a useless piece of shit. You are all fucking incompetent.

How is it possible, after so many releases, to have so many bugs? The above points are essential in a video editing software. I would ban this piece of shit software. I would beat the crap out of the entire TechShit staff. Fuck you !!!!!!!!

I can understand that this user might have some bad feelings as we all do at times. But, I do not think he needs a username or use the language he has on this forum board as some people and kids that do use this product may be offended. I think he is just venting possibly but it should be deleted. You be the judge.

Damn right I am venting. I have all the reasons in the world to do so. People who use this product should now. Switch to something else. Camtasia equals only frustration and waste of time.

Well I hope you have a better Holiday Season. I have used TechSmith Products for years and have always been a pleased with their software and how they handle their TechSupport. Maybe you need to start from the basics (Beginnings) and learn some patience. Just my opinion but, I will not get into a forum board scrap and fight with you as I am more about trying to help solve problems not start them. If you have a question about something ask for help. Anyway, have a Happy Holiday.

Well Fred, I appreciate you being so nice, but everyone has a limit. Patience, I can't afford, since I have a deadline for this project. Everything was going great, but now, thanks to the incompetence of this software, I have to scrap everything. There is no way, I can have it ready on time now. Who is to blame ? From what I understand, these issues run from earlier versions. How come they didn't get solved up to this point? This is a noob mistake.

Just sending my message hoping it would give the TechSmith staff something to think about. I don't expect any help. It's hopeless now.

I always try to be nice. When you started having these issues or working on your project did you contact TechSupport or post any questions here? I can say that not just TechSmith software but others also have issues and bugs that need to brought to their attention and some fixes make it into the updates and others do not make the cut. TechSmith is no different there but, I try to give my feedback so they know how to make it better and I believe the more they see in a nice way of course from users the more requests that get for an added feature or fix the more they listen.

I am not saying you are to blame or TechSmith is to blame. I do not like pointing fingers and playing the blame game. I have also missed project deadlines but, it was my fault as I did not give myself enough time for dealing with problems that I may have run into. I started to late and just did not keep in mind the issues or problems I might have had with completing the project but, I learned from that mistake by trial and error and the School of Hard Knocks. I sure knocked myself in the head enough for that though. So who is to blame? Your guess is as good as mine. Anyways I wish there were something I could do and I am sorry to hear you that you cannot have it ready on time. I think we both know that you are a little unhappy and if their is anything you need to ask on how to complete this project if you want too then just ask. I cannot guarantee I will or would have the right answer but, I would try. If there is nothing more that can be done then I will not post anymore on this subject. Keep in mind that it has been what most consider the Holiday Week and they are trying to get their tasks their completed and some have to travel. I guess we could always have it worse. Like I said I hope you have a Happy Holiday.

Again Fred, thank you for trying to help, but unless someone can pull a rabbit out of the hat and come up with a quick fix to export my movie from the program without messing up the sync, all is hopeless. Nevertheless, Happy Holidays to you too.

However, I am not touching TechSmith products ever again.

Oh... and sure, to my employer, the blame falls on me, of course. I assumed, a popular piece of software such as Camtasia isn't capable of such a mess. I'm just saying it's outrages to have a piece of software with so many issues on the market.

I have been in your position, and sometimes I want to strangle Techsmiths for how much time I have wasted on Camtasia 8.

To be fair though, our employers WOULD be right in blaming us if we are late on a project from Camtasia 8 crashes etc. We made the choices to go with it, for believing Techsmith advertising (I think back to the "Cam7 was so frustrating to work with, Cam8 will make live groovy again" promo video and have to laugh), for going with new software we have not fully tested for a very time sensitive project. If one doesn't like the blame word, it is at least indisputably our responsibility.

Broadly though I think you are right - releasing video editing software that is so riddled full of basic bugs, esp. given how they promote it, is, well, inconsiderate of the fact that video editing is such a time intensive exercise.

That said, I for one am still glad I upgraded. Now that I know what it is capable of and what it is just hopeless at handling, it is a very welcome part of my overall toolbox.

I wasn't checking email over the holiday, so I just saw the activity on this thread, I wanted to at least provide a response:

Personally, as a developer who spent five years on Camtasia Studio, I'm sad to hear that it's been such a frustrating experience for you. You have my apologies.

We take customer satisfaction very seriously at TechSmith. Delighting customers is a primary goal that every employee is expected to uphold. If there are bugs in our software, we are to blame. For the ones we know about, we make an effort to fix them as quickly as we can. In the meantime, we offer free tech support for our users, often escalating cases to development teams. I can't count the number of times I've witnessed a Camtasia developer taking time out of their normal day to hand-edit a corrupted project so that a user doesn't lose all of their work. I'm extremely proud of the team and their commitment to our users.

CS8 has been a challenging release. With so many changes to the foundation of the application, we knew some bugs would creep in. We fixed a mountain of issues and made vast improvements to the program, but clearly we missed some things. The team has been hard at work addressing the major problems so that our users can continue to enjoy our software and be productive.

With all of that being said, we can only help if you let us. You can open a support ticket here:

http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/uti...

Or, you can contact us over the phone. We will do everything we can to help you out. For what it's worth, I can think of a handful of things that might be causing your troubles, and you listed several different problems. We have had other customers come to us with these problems and have been able to help nearly all of them.

Lastly, I'd like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that this is a community site. We have a clear set of guidelines for how to communicate. They can be found here:

http://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmi...

Unfortunately, I have to suspend the account of the very frustrated user above. Profanity and threats against our staff are most definitely against our Terms of Service. If we get complaints about the content of this thread, I will have to delete it entirely. For now, I'll leave it up as a reminder that we are here to help, but please keep your communication civil.

Classy reply, Randy. I'm having the same issue. Post-render audio out of sync. Will open a ticket.

Randy,
Your reply approach is classy. Thank you for that.

Please take a look at my tickets for the audio sync issues in CS7 and 8. It is a frustrating issue and my tickets resulted in my being blamed for a common real world scenario - some audio from one track ending up in the other track via monitoring. I was told to use headphones. I am doing video interviews and do not want to wear headphones.

CS has an issue in the production process that produces the audio tracks out of sync. It sounds good before production but If any of the audio from one track ends up in the other, there is a noticeable echo.

I have been using TechSmth products since the 90's. I expected better support and a development process that would clean up an issue in major releases after I pointed them out and gave ample evidence of the problem.
