Help w/ Creating a YouTube Video

I am a newbie using (1) Camtasia Studio 8.6.0, (2) Power Point 2010 (w/ Camtasia add-on), and, if needed, Audacity 2.1.2. These tools run under Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit, Service Pack 1.

I am planning to create a short video for YouTube, with a 16:9 aspect ratio, simple transitions, a music background throughout the video, and my voice in certain spots.

Do you suggest that I create the Power Point presentation first, then, add the music background, and, finally, add the voice?

Thank you!

Yes, that is an approach that will yield a quick video that looks polished. I suggest you write a script and pre-record all of your speaking parts, save them as .wav files and then import them into your project so you can place them, edit them, etc. Use a good quality mic if possible (not the mic that is built into your computer) and audacity for this. You have options for creating the graphics - you can export your PPT slides as JPEGs and place them individually or you can screencast your PowerPoint show (record it) as a camtasia file. Good luck!
