Help with cursor FX for Camtasia 3 (mac)

I cannot, for the life of me figure out how to get the cursor FX to work. Help!  When I try to drag the cursor to either the timeline or the canvas it just bounces back.  I tried it on video clips as well as still images to no avail.  Clearly I am missing something.   I have been using Camtasia 2 (mac) for a while for editing audio and video. I messed around with a bunch of the FX on 3  yesterday and I seem to get the hang of it. But any help with the cursor (the FX I really want to use) would be helpful. Thanks

Hi Casey. Cursor Effects are intended to work with screen recordings. So go ahead and try recording your screen (be sure your mouse is on that screen), then adding a Cursor Effect to that recording on the timeline. Let me know if that works for you!

I don't understand why it's impossible tu use de Cursor Effect on any clip you import to Camtasia. It's crazy.
I mean if I import a video recording from an iphone screen I DO NEED to use this effect. I can't record the iphone screen for an APP tutorial in Camtasia, so I have to import the video and then edit it.
And it's crazy that this NOT FEATURE still doesn't exist yet in Camtasia.
