Here's an idea. Don't fix it if it ain't broken.

I've used SnagIt for a decade. Loved it always. Very speedy, efficient, no bullshit.

Then I upgrade to 13. WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ME WRITE THAT AGAIN (Y/N). It's not entirely what I'm used to, to put it mildly. WE WERE INSPIRED BY CLIPPY TO ADD A BUNCH OF BS TO SHOW YOU WE KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. Rather than just having a quick way of taking screenshots, I now need to make a bunch of decisions after each capture. WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRAG THIS AROUND OR MAYBE INCLUDE THE CURSOR OR MAYBE SHARE IT WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY SO THEY KNOW YOU STILL LOW THEM? This is probably the worst upgrade I've ever seen in any software over my 30+ years in the industry. HEY, DID YOU KNOW THAT IF YOU NOW CLICK ANYWHERE IN YOUR SCREENSHOT, BY DEFAULT WE'RE GOING TO ADD A HUGE RED ARROW JUST BECAUSE WE LEARNED HOW TO SPELL MODERN CALLOUT? So yeah, uninstalling after 3 minutes of trying. HEY, LET ME SHOW YOU A VIDEO OF HOW YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING FOR LONGER THAN I HAVE BEEN ALIVE, JUST IN CASE YOU FORGOT.

Ditto. Why tear apart a perfectly good product and put it back together wrong?

My intent here is not to pour gasoline on a perfectly good fire. But the comment does seem to beg an answer.

I think when we consider that SnagIt originally was a Windows only product, things were much simpler. The development team only had to consider what worked as Windows evolved.

With the Mac versions appearing and with Windows itself evolving into something we all barely recognize as what the original looked like, I'm sure TechSmith has been working diligently to create and maintain something that will work on both platforms as well as still offer many of the features we all expect to see. I'm sure that's not quite a simple task.

So part of that likely involves tearing apart a perfectly good product. ;)

As to whether the new product has been assembled incorrectly, I suppose that remains to be seen. Fortunately, for myself, it still works very well. And sure, I also had no need to view all the helpful videos and animations. Fortunately, there is an ability to turn them off.

Just some thoughts from the edge... Rick :)

@Bjørn Furuknap  Many of us feel what you are saying
Some of the stuff that is bothering you can be addressed with  "presets' formerly "Profiles. (SUch as getting rid of the obnoxious need to choose between a video and an image)
If you click on a capture in the editor it will start the last used tool e.g an arrow
Post back some specific things and we can give you the workarounds on most things .
