High contrast screen recordings

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help.

When I record the screen in the latest version of Camtasia for Windows 10 the resulting video has too high contrast. Colours are overly vibrant and light shades disappear completely. When I record the screen using OBS Studio it looks fine. Please see attached image for reference.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I contacted support and they solved the problem. I'll post the solution here in case someone else has the same issue. Basically I had to repair the installation and delete the registry key.

Thanks again.

SOLUTION

Using the Search feature, type Control Panel and select. Open Program / Programs and Features > Find Camtasia > Right Click > Change. Run the Repair and Continue.

Make sure CamtasiaStudio.exe and CamRecorder.exe are not running (make sure by opening Task Manager using Ctrl + Alt + Delete and click on the Processes tab).

Hold the Windows key + R to open the Run window. Type 'regedit' and hit OK.

Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TechSmith\Camtasia Studio\20.

Right-click on the 20 folder and choose Export. Save it to your Desktop (this is a backup).

Now right-click on the 20 folder and delete it.

Glad it worked.
Its a bit of a hack really. Not an ideal solution.

It reset Camtasia to its Default settings across the board.

Your recent projects list, presets, preferences, etc. Erased and Gone.

There contained in the registry. Why they still store this information there?

If I were you, I would hold on to that registry file.

Have Tech support figure out what actually went wrong. So you can restore the registry.

There is probably 1 setting in the registry that needs changing.
Changing it should be the solution.

Wiping out the entire registry is the Hail Mary approach.
With collateral damage.

Thanks Joe. I didn't have any projects or prefs set as I've just switched from an older Mac version to a fresh Windows installation so this solution worked fine for me.

Cheers
