When capturing a video, is it possible to highlight/mark your mouse clicks? So that - for example - a user can see which button he needs to click?

Hi Boudewijn,

Snagit is designed for quick records and not really for any kind of callouts or editing. So to answer your question, Snagit does not support any sort of visual indicator for mouse clicks.

We also offer Camtasia Studio (Windows) or Camtasia for Mac which can do what you're looking for and much, much more. You can learn more about Camtasia Studio and/or Camtasia for Mac and find our fully-functional, 30-day trial at this page: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia

It would be good if SnagIt Video could add an option to add a mouse click noise and highlight the mouse click (i.e. some kind of cursor animation in the video).
The cost of camtasia for such a small feature is a bit overkill.

You can achieve this by using Windows StepsRecorder which is Windows 7 and above. Start StepsRecorder (PSR.exe) then record your video.. The Steps Records will add the mouse click animations :)

Any updates on this being added to Snagit? The cost for Camtasia is too high for this small feature.

Hi BrianG4,

We have no plans to implement this feature in Snagit. I wouldn't rule anything completely out, but it's highly unlikely that we would add this functionality to Snagit as we intend to maintain Snagit's focus as image capture and Camtasia's as screen recording; we have to draw a line somewhere when it comes to recording features.

Screencast-o-matic is the answer. $15 per year and has the yellow circle. Free version as well

Just tried Snagit at my work. No yellow circle. Don't know what they think people are going to use it for since the yellow circle is NOT included. Seems to me that Camtasia can't be that great if they are needing to keep this feature for the expensive software. Many other programs for less with nore functionality. Screencast-o-matic is one I have tried and it is pretty good. Shame my work doesn't have it.

A workaround I discovered is from the windows mouse settings - there is an option to show the location of the mouse if CTRL is pressed.  After enabling that option, I can press CTRL just before clicking in the video to "highlight" the mouse click.  Clunky workaround I know, but not too bad.
