I have created Hot Keys (Ctrl + Print) and it was working last week, but it seems that something has changed and the Hot Keys is no longer working. This is preventing me from being able to capture drop down menus. I recently migrated from 10 to 12 and having issues with the hot keys. When I look at the profiles it appears to be set up properly but can't not get it to work.
I don't think your profile is important to define the [Print Screen] hotkey below the red circle (my green Arrow)?
To take a screenshot with SnagIt inside SnagIt menu, you have to clear the square ' Hide Snagit when capturing' in the menuoption under [File] in the startscreen of Snagit
An other workaround option to capture a view is to use the simple screencapture tool of Windows or temporary another free capture program.
Hope this can be of any help?
Windows 10 SnagIt 12 - with snagit 12 you have profiles - these profiles allow you to set up your hot keys. To capture the shot I have set up the Hot Key of Ctrl- Print Screen. In previous editions when this is done I can capture shots of drop down menus and screen capture either then entire page or just the drop down. With what you have mentioned I would still have to select the "Start New Capture" as soon as I click on that the drop down view is gone (because I clicked away). Why do the Hot Key functions not work instructed. Adding a new profile is not difficult and the directions provide are clear but CTRL-Print does nothing.
I have also removed the Hot Key and re-added but it doesn't matter, the only way to capture a screen shot is to select "Start new capture"
In Snagit 13 and Snagit 2018, there isn't a profile for a Printscreen hotkey. there the only way (I think?) is to click under de red circle like I wrote and then give your preferred keycombination.
But you can also give priority to the settings for the hotkeys of Snagit, should an other program have defined the same hotkeys.
