Hotkey Already Registered - Can't Bind PrintScreen in Snagit 2020 to Preset Hotkeys

We updated to Snagit 2020 and we no longer can bind Print Screen to the Preset hotkeys. It appears Snagit has a default stranglehold on Print Screen now and the option to unbind the global button for it was removed from the hotkey Preferences. This is causing us the inability to set it as a hotkey for presets, Snagit simply states "Hotkey already registered." We only use Print Screen for image capture and do not want the All-In-One box coming up after a capture selection, we want it to go directly to the Editor. The "Allow Snagit to override other hotkey assignments" checkbox does not help.

I think your error suggests a previous version of Snagit or other software had already claimed that key and two pieces of s/w cannot claim the same key simultaneously. This happens to me all the time with Camtasia's "pause key" (F9) and Excel's "calculate key" also F9.  I prefer Camtasia own it, and found an easy workaround in Excel.
So who owns the key? Reboot, and what happens when you press PrtScr?
In Snagit, Capture Window, see if you can change [File], [Capture Preferences], Hotkeys Tab, Check the "allow snagit to override . . " box at the bottom.

Ed, Corey mentioned that the 'Allow...' check box had no effect. Corey, you can change the capture type to 'Image' in capture window settings and change the 'Selection' setting so it shows 'Region' and then set the setting under the gear icon to 'Select region at capture'. This will stop the 'All-in-one' toolbar from appearing. As far as not being able to assign the 'Print Screen' button, I have no issues with the 'Allow Snagit to override other hotkey assignments'. I don't know what to suggest there other than contacting support with a ticket.

These are my capture preferences and the 'Print Screen' button launches Snagit capture with the settings below.

Thanks, this gave me the result I was looking for but the Print Screen key is still being held hostage somehow. I'll investigate further on our end to see what I can determine. Thanks again!

Was there a Windows update? It's been many months back, but I seem to recall a Windows update that made a mess of things because there was something in the update that reserved Print Screen for its own use.

Yeah! There was a while there where OneDrive, if you use it, took control unless you turned it off in settings for OneDrive. I had that issue. Until I found this, I couldn't get 'Print Screen' to work.
