How about an eyedropper on the actual toolbar?

The thing that I would really love to see as a developer is an eyedropper tool who's sole purpose is to quickly get a color for use in another app.
When you click on the proposed eyedropper tool, a new tab appears on the property sheet displaying a few different color formats that can be copied to the Windows/Mac clipboard.
Give us a choice whether or not we want the alpha channel included.
I'd love to see HTML color, shorthand color, (R,G,B), hex with the common language styles, and even a customizable format. Could also do HSL and CYMK?

Another thing that would be nice is to be able to add a color to a color pool and optional note for later retrieval. (maybe linked to originating image?).

Hmmm, in a way you kind of already have that. Assuming you have added the paint bucket tool.

If the paint bucket tool is active, you are able to press the Ctrl key and click a color in order to sample it like the eyedropper does. Then it's a simple matter of clicking the color chip in the properties and the sampled color code is already highlighted for you to just copy and paste elsewhere.

At least, this is how it appears to work for me, here on my Windows PC. I know there are subtle differences with a Mac. So maybe it won't work at all or work in the same way if you are using a Mac.

Cheers... Rick :)

Yes, I have that as well. That's fine if you want the scenic route.

I'm talking about being able to copy the color of a pixel in the desired format on a repetitive basis.

Thanks Rick

I note that this was posted for both Mac and Windows platforms.

As it is a huge unknown as to whether the SnagIt dev team will ever consider adding this as a SnagIt feature, if your system is Windows, you might want to investigate a tool known as Color Cop. I find it to be a really handy freeware tool.

I have to agree that if/when something like this would be added to Snagit it will more than likely be a long time off.

Hands down with Color Cop. I use it almost daily. A very handy program.
