Upgraded to v 18 from 13 today. Love the new improvements annoying that the upgrade does not retain my toolbar settings. I now have to spend time getting the toolbar back to what I want it to be.

Hi TimVickers;

This is often caused by permissions for Snagit. Please go to File - Exit in both Snagit and Snagit Editor (required), then right-click on your Snagit Editor desktop icon (or Start Menu icon) and choose "Run as Administrator." Once Snagit Editor opens, please do the same for Snagit's capture interface. Once both are open set your toolbar up in the Snagit Editor then go to File - Exit for both Snagit and Snagit Editor then launch it as normal; the toolbar should stick.

Added note: THe problems with networking and permissions from Windows 8 got worse in Windows 10. I could regale you with stories but they are mostly not snagit related ...

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I was not clear enough in my original feedback. The toolbar settings are maintained between use but when I upgraded from 13 to 18 the upgraded version did not inherit the toolbar settings from the earlier version.

Amen to that.  I got what you meant first time and I agree it was very annoying.  It takes ages to get the UI just the way you want it and bam, gone.

If I can remember next time, I will take a screenshot before upgrading

Tim, Techsmith has changed the way the old registry key works. I tried importing v11 settings into v18 key, nothing happened to the toolbar. Someone with macular degeneration must have designed v 18 toolbar becasue it is the most ugliest one I have seen.

For version 11 it is; (I have used the v11 key for reinstallations for a long time only on v11 installs and it has worked for me.)

For version 2018 (v18) it could be;
