How can I change the “Clip Speed” for only part of My Video?

Hi, when I increase the “Clip Speed” to let’s say 300% it applies the speed to “ALL” of the video. Can I tell it where to use the clip speed?

For example I only want to speed up a section of my video to 300% speed and then have it return to normal 100% speed.

Hi there

You should be able to put the video on a new track of its own, then trim away all but what you want to speed up. Then apply the speed adjustment to that track.

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks Rick, I tried that but it doesn’t work because when you speed up the clipped track that clipped track becomes way shorter and after the sped up section the video is still at it’s beginning stages.

I bought Camtasia just so I could speed up parts of my video and if this doesn’t work then Camtasia is useless to me. :(

If you want to extend the speed of just a portion of a video and retain the rest of the video. You just need to apply splits to the section of Video that you want to speed up, highlight the video portion and apply the clip speed change.

I Forgot a Step
You must slide adjacent  Video over to the right to make room for a longer duration clip speed. Oops.

Like Joe said: just place your Playhead at the beginning of the portion you want to speed up and RMB-click and select 'Split All at Playhead.' Then do the same thing where you want the section to end. Then select that section, RMB-click and select Add Clip Speed. Open its Properties and set the speed you want; and that's all there is to it. If you are speeding it up, this will result in a gap between the end of that clip and the beginning of the next one and you will have to drag the following track over to meet the new position of the speeded-up clip.

At least, that's how I do it.
