Does anyone know how I can convert AVCHD files into a format that allows me to upload into Camtasia and produced High Definition DVDs? Is there a software program that I need?

try to use Handbrake or VidCoder to encode to .mp4 file. so, you can import it to Camtasia.

Allow me to correct some terminology. There is no such thing as a high definition DVD. DVD is a standard definition format. Even if a DVD is created from high definition source material, that source material is down-sampled into standard definition. High definition video goes on Blu-Rays. As for the new 4k video, I'm not sure what kind of disc it will fit on. Probably hard drive only. And then there's 8k waiting in the wings. Here's a chart that might help to see the differences. I don't know whom to credit for this; I didn't come up with it.
