I make a lot of captures that I just paste in to an IM window or email or something and have no need to edit in the editor. I just have to periodically go back to the editor and prune out dozens of captures. A "copy to clipboard" option was added which helps on the capture side, but how to I make it NOT go to the editor.

Click on the 'S' for Snagit on the taskbar? (or whatever MacOS calls it) and change the slider for 'Preview in editor' to 'off'. You're done.

That prevents the editor from spawning at the time of capture, but the next time I do open the editor, it populates itself with all the captures made since the last time I opened it. I'm looking to copy to clipboard only and never show up in the editor or take up space on the drive. Snapz Pro and others have a mode like this.

What is the problem you are trying to solve? Disk space? This folder has about two years of Snags:

When it gets to large, trash it (looks like it's time to trash that one, actually, haven't used it in a year).
I don't really understand the problem.

That's still a bit of disk space on an SSD. Furthermore, if I just trash the whole thing, I lose the things I DO care about. The problem I'm trying to solve is how to not put things there which don't need to be there.

I understand chipdoc perfectly. And I'm 100% with he/she. It's not a problem for most people. Maybe it's computer OCD.
To wit, at least 90% of my captures are short lifers far as I'm concerned, e.g. I use them then never look at them again. Thus, in my opinion, there is no plausible logical reason to automatically save them. I end up two or three times annually, when I happen to think of it, going in to the Snagit library and doing mass purging. To me, keeping this stuff is like keeping/stacking a bunch of used boxes.
