How can I manually add selection animation to a screencast of a mobile device?

I'm using Camtasia 8.6.0 to record a screencast of a mobile application. Cursor data is not collected during the recording. As I'm editing, I'd like to add emphasis similar to the red mouse click rings each time I "tap" on the application. I can't seem to find an option other than adding a circle callout. Any thoughts?

One thought would be to record against a solid colored background. Move the mouse as you want to see it on the application. Then insert that as an overlay into Camtasia and add all the emphasis effects. Then use the "Remove a color" feature to render the background as transparent leaving behind only the mouse cursor.

Cheers... Rick :)
