How can I remove the shadows on top of my panoramic capture?

Whenever creating a panoramic capture of my screen Snagit adds an ugly crosshair-like shadow. I try to do these captures often and didn't have an issue before upgrading.

Hi Robert,

So sorry this is happening to you. This appears to be a new issue in Catalina that affects some users, but we've been unable to reproduce it. What is your macOS version, Snagit version, and monitor setup? Does this happen with all panoramic captures, or just when capturing certain applications?

- Snagit: Version 2020.0.1 (96024)
- I'm using my laptop monitor.

Are these in the final saved image?

I ask, because I regularly see this on the Windows side of things. Because I'm a huge fan of using the drag and drop functionality to avoid temporary saves and uploads, I regularly keep my SnagIt window about a quarter the size of my screen in the upper right.  But quite often, I maximize the SnagIt window to edit an image. And it's when I maximize the window that the editor appears a LOT like what you depicted. It's like an outline of that window is superimposed on the editor until I restore back to the size it was before maximizing.

None of my saved images have this though.

Yep, this shadow somehow works its way into the saved image which looks very confusing when I go to share it.

I'm having the exact same issue in Catalina. I have a tech support ticket in as well.

When you click the S on the menu bar - first you have Selection (zone - panoramic etc...) under you have Effect - please ensure that you select None - please the choice by clicking on the downside triangle et the extreme right - hope that helps.

I get the same issue and I can reproduce it all the time now.

It seems to be when creating a panoramic when the window is full screen.

I finally got around to executing the steps that tech support gave me for this and it didn't fix the issue for me. I've reopened my ticket but wanted to post here for two reasons:

#1: I found a workaround - it is annoying to have to do this, and not efficient, but it allows for a panoramic capture without the lines. When you initiate the panoramic caputre, before hitting start, slightly resize the capture area (vs accepting the full screen default)...so, I move the right and left capture area handles in a pixel or two, and then do your panoramic capture. Result: No lines in my panoramic capture.

#2: Has anyone had a successful resolution to this issue in the past 2 weeks?

Hey Stacy, I repeated the steps in your workaround and I still get the shadow for large screenshots. The only panos that don't give me shadows are very small frames.

Bummer. How frustrating.

I assume you are using the All-in-One Capture when trying the workaround (I forgot to mention that part in my post)?

Here's to hoping tech support helps us both out soon.

Thank you. I love the scrolling capture, so I'm very much looking forward to having this feature working again.

Hi,

We've just released 2020.1.1 which fixes the orange lines and shadows issue during pano capture. If you're on 2019, we will have an update for that soon as well.
