How do I add a white background behind an image?

I clip images from online and want to use them as a virtual background in Zoom, but need to add a white background to place them properly to be seen.  I can add white rectangles all around the image, but that is very cumbersome.  I'd like to add a large white block and move it behind the image.  I am using SnagIT 2020.1.1 on Windows 10.

Could you use the 'New Image' option from the 'File' menu. In the example below, I have created a new image 1920 X 1080 pixels in size with a white background. I Then  overlaid the menu items on top of it for demonstration purposes.

Then you would save the new image (minus the menus) with a name such as 'white background.' Afterward you would then open it and drag your captures from the tray into it for your purposes. My image size is arbitrary, you could make it any size you want.
