How do I bring back dimming while capturing a screenshot?

In previous versions you guys had a very nice and smooth animation of the "region" selection when using Snagit with the default "All-in-One" preset. Now that I installed Snagit 2018 you guys resorted back to "snappy" selection of the region with no smooth animation. Plus you took out the best part: dimming the unselected portion of the screen while capturing!

How can I bring this dimming effect back?

Don't know about the animation effect but the screen dims/overlays when you do a capture.

Once you click and start to drag your selection or if you click the spacebar to anchor the start point and move your mouse the screen should have a overlay.

I'm talking about a problem I'm having with Region capture, where it does not "automatically" grey out the unselected regions.

It appears to be an issue with my screen setup, so I'm contacting support on this one :)

What you need to do is a "Region Capture"

You'll need to set up a Custom Profile to do it. Under the  selection dropdown chose Region.

The easiest thing to do is assign a keyboard shortcut and go with that. I don't know want version of SnagIt you last used. But the One Click button that hides around the screen. Is not as convenient to use as it used to be.You cannot assign a profile to the Easy to Click  Big Red Button any longer.
You've got to click a "Smaller" drop down menu item instead. The Giant Red Button has one function. To the best of my knowledge.Pretty much everyone sets ups custom profiles because the Giant red button doesn't do what they want it to do and "Never Will".
There have been countless requests "And Complaints" in this forum by users.Past and {Now} Present.
To restore One Click to it's former Glory when we could "Assign" custom profiles to it. TechSmith has rejected the Idea.
Regards,Joe
