How do I create an Android Screencast

I'm wondering if someone can tell me how to create a screencast using either Camtasia for Mac or PC of an Android screen (Samsung Note 2).

I'm using Jellybean but would consider buying another device to get KitKat if I need to. I don't want to root my device. (My understanding is the KitKat has the capability of recording the screen and saving the file as an MP4 on the device which can then be transferred off.)  Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be software to do this as their is for iOS devices.

A telecommunications representative said I might be able to hook up an HDMI cable and run it to the computer although he hasn't done it so I don't know if this is an option that would actually work.

I have searched extensively online for a solution to the problem and haven't found one.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

This video seems to offer promise...

Basically, you would do what is in the video, then use Camtasia to record it on your PC. If you really wanted to get slick, you could then surround the video with an image of a device such as a phone where the main part was transparent.

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks Rick,

I can't tell you how many hours I looked for a solution... I'm not sure why I missed that one!  It seems to work... there's a bit of a delay which might be partially my computer although the quality of the image is OK. But I think its probably workable to use Camtasia to record the screen then make the audio recording align with the video.

Thanks again

consider a floating text window with words describing the tutorial that you see through the window as a no head
phones solution for video tutorials
