How do I create training videos that I can sell to the public? I'd like half the screen to show my PowerPoint slides and half (side by side) to be video of me, live doing training. I think I can do that in Zoom and import to Camtasia, but is there a way to do that directly in Camtasia?

Whatever you see on a monitor should be able to be recorded directly into Camtasia.
Do a short test run, say a few minutes to to make sure it works!

Yes! because when you set your recording you can specify what do you want to record. You can choose to record your screen AND your webcam at the same time and adjust the size and crop in post. Just make sure that you have a decent webcam.

Thanks! I have a Logitech Brio and an external mic so think I'm good on quality of recording. Glad to hear I don't need to use Zoom to do this!  Much appreciation.

Hi Jeff,

If you have a Microsoft PowerPoint slide deck, you can choose to import that directly into Camtasia, and it will bring it in (no animations though, only static slides). You can then put those onto the timeline as images and move them around however/wherever you want. You would then just use Camtasia Recorder to record yourself talking, put it on the timeline when done, and position it how you want (and make sure to time the slides where you want them).

As others have said, you can also record your screen while running the PowerPoint instead. A few different options for you! :)

Cheers,

Kelly

Hi Kelly...thanks for your reply. I've been able to do what you suggest in the past. What I want to be able to do is have half the screen showing my PowerPoint and have the screen showing my camera as I narrate and gesture. The result should be a training package I can sell that offers both the visual of my slide deck and me, as if I was training in person. I believe I'm going to have to do the recording in Zoom and then import, as I also want to use a virtual background. My home office doesn't look professional enough as a background. As an aside, I viewed the video for Camtasia 2020 and I believe it was you on their explaining the new features. Looks cool and I'm considering the upgrade.  I have 2019 now.
