How do I produce a video to upload to an LMS that allows the viewer to stop the video and then pick back up where they left off?

How do I produce a video to upload to an LMS that allows the viewer to stop the video and then pick back up where they left off at another time. Currently I created a video and published it as HTML5 SCORM 1.2 and uploaded it TalentLMS. Each time a learner views and stops, comes back to it, it restarts from the beginning. TalentLMS says it's a Video setting when I publish. I can't seem to figure that out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi there

I believe the term you are looking for here is known as "bookmarking". Hopefully Ben from TechSmith will pop in to confirm or deny what my own understanding is, but I don't believe Camtasia offers any provision for controlling this feature.

Cheers... Rick :)

According to this post 1 year ago, bookmarking was built-in for Scorm

To update this thread, we just shipped Camtasia 2018.0.6 for Windows this morning with support for SCORM bookmarking.

how does SCORM bookmarking work? I have version 2018.0.7 and I haven't seen any settings related to bookmarking in the SCORM options. I uploaded a SCORM package to my LMS as a test and it didn't seem to work automatically either.

Hi Jonathan,
There is no setting around SCORM bookmarking, it should be supported out of the box.
What you should expect is when you watch a video and say watch 30% of the video and then close the page.  When you go to watch it again, it will remember that you have watched 30% of the video and start the video at the time you left off.  If your video contains a quiz (that does not use our email reporting) then it will also remember what questions you have already answered.
If you are not seeing this can you tell me what LMS / CMS you are using, SCORM version you are publishing with and what web browser you are using.
Thanks,
Ben
I can only assume it is still in the 2019 Smart-Player.
It working may be dependant on the LMS/CMS or the version of Scorm you use.

As Rick Stone stated above, Maybe Ben will pop in and clarify this.

Hello sfass,

I have a couple questions? What version of Camtasia are you using to produce the SCORM content?  Are you using quizzes with your video?  If yes, are you also using our email quiz report service?

If your answers are:
  • Latest version of Camtasia 2019
  • Yes or No on using quizzing.
  • NO on using the email quizzing report service
Then bookmarking should just work as from the player side.  The produced SCORM package should suspend the video when the user closes that module.

I do have access to Talent LMS and will try and do some testing my self.

Thanks,
Ben

I am using Camtasia 2018. Yes to quizzing, NO to email quiz results. My issue may be that I am using Camtasia 2018 and 2019. :-(

I did confirm this morning that I could get my SCORM output to resume in TalentLMS using the production details I described above.

Thank you. I will try this out today. I am using the markers and creating a Table of contents with my output. That will also be very helpful.
