How do I use cursor effects on an MP4?

I'm trying to make a video out of MP4s I took with my camera. Camtasia won't let me use the highlighted circle from cursor effects. I've tried dragging it and nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? If so, how can I get it to work? Thanks

make a Library asset that looks like a cursor [use a transparent background]; hightlight it using another Library asset made from a circle callout [low opacity]; group them together, add to your project and use animation keyframes to move the simulated cursor around as needed; this will take some work to accomplish

another option ...

play your MP4 in a player while capturing with Camtasia Recorder AND while you move the mouse as required; then use that trec capture in your project; you can then add cursor effects because the cursor info will be in the trec file

Thanks. I tried to record a still image using the camtasia recorder and then hightlight the items, won't work. I went with the low tech solution and re-shot the video with me physically pointing at things with my finger. Is there a Camtasia manual available?

glad you liked the aircraft; footage was from a large airshow held in Washington DC in May 2015 [Arsenal Of Democracy Flyover] ; all WWII vintage aircraft [52 aircraft participated], from fighters to bombers; I used Camtasia to make a collection of 23 videos of each aircraft, by type, from takeoff, flyover, to landing; videos are daisy-chained together; 20 videos are camera action; 3 are photo slide shows made from DSLR images

it was a great show
