Created a new folder in the Media Library. I absolutely cannot figure out how to rename it.

It should be intuitive but it's not; I right clicked and chose "rename" but do not see where or how to type the new name? What am I missing?

If you've right clicked on it correctly (selecting it as you have done in your screenshot and pressing [F2] also works) then you should be able to just type over the name like so:

I have the same issue. Tried F2, folder is selected and am seeing the option to rename when right-click, but then nothing happens at all. I am able to edit the names of the items inside the folder, but not the folder itself.

If you have added the folder you can rename it by F2 and start typing and the text is replaced, at least that works for me.
Sometimes I have to double click for the system to see which folder I want to change.
Then F2 and start typing.

Somebody needs to call this out - Camtasia is the most counter-intuitive POS software I've ever seen. So many functions have inconsistent behavior, there are many functions that you'd expect from a V1.0 release...using this product is frustrating beyond belief. I can't rename a media folder to save my life - not F2, not right-click rename.

It seems like the designers have never managed a media product before.

It is very tricky and if you don't click in the right order it doesn't work.

  1. Open your library
  2. Click on the file you want to rename
  3. Make sure the file you want to rename is the ONLY line highlighted in the list
  4. Then hit F2
  5. Your file name will be in a box and highlighted in blue
  6. Click inside the box to type the new name
  7. Hit Enter to save it

There is a bug in version 9.1.2.  I added new media to my library.  Created a new folder.  Moved the imported media to the folder.  Right clicked on the folder and chose rename.  Nothing happens.  I hit F2 as suggested and nothing happens.

Edit:  I have to exit the application and restart Camtasia then it will allow me to rename the folder.  Very strange.

I'm not finding that. In 9.1.2 I can create a new folder and rename it without any problem within the one project, within the one session.

As other replies have indicated, some people do seem to be having problems renaming the folders. I'm not sure why, but this definitely isn't a 9.1.2 thing.

Yeah, I just got a response back from support on my ticket about this.  It is a known bug that they are hunting down.  If you create a new folder at the bottom of the media library you can many times rename it immediately before you click anywhere else.  However, once you click anywhere else many people have to restart the application to be able to rename the folder.

I'm glad you aren't experiencing the bug.

Thank you Svaller, I had the same problem until I realised that I had to close it down and then reopen it. Problem solved :-)
