Hi, I'd like to open trec files from Camtasia and edit them in Vegas.
These files are encoded with a video codec called tsc2
I think that stand for TechSmith Screen Codec 2
The audio is encoded in mp4a
What I want is to drag and drop the trec file directly into the Vegas timeline and start editing it.
Or in the worst case converting trec files into a file format understable for vegas.
Any idea about how may I do this?
Cheers

This works if you are using Camtasia 8. You didn't say if you are using Windows or MAC. I don't know if MAC has this feature but here it is.

You can extract the contents of a .trec file and you get a .avi file for the video.
You will also get an audio track for system audio if you've recorded your voice with a microphone. The  audio containing your voice is attached to the .avi video.
You can extract a webcam recording as well.
I prefer to create a folder on my desktop to extract to because there is more than on file.
You get to select what you want to extract before extracting anything.

Place the .trec in the clip bin. Right Click and choose "Extract Recording Contents."
Choose what you want to extract.
Create or choose a folder to extract the contents to.
Extract the contents.
 That's it.

Hi, the problem with that Joe is that avi file is encoded with the tsc2 codec from Techsmith, so when you open it in a videoplayer,  you get some problems. In VLC Media Player I get only a green screen with a terrible sound.
HOWEVER, SEEMS TO BE I'VE FOUND AN EASY TO USE UTILITY !

Bigasoft Total Videoconverter 5

As simple as drag and drop the trec file this utility and select a format for conversion understable by your favourite editor, like SONY VEGAS, Premire or Avid Media Composer.

I like Camtasia a lot and the editor is very nice, however, some projects requiere special quality, games captures for example, and you like to add special effects you cannot find in Camtasia, like motion blur movement, color retouching, etc. You only find that advanced editing in VEGAS or Premiere, for that reason I want to edit the trec file in VEGAS.

Hi Jesús Sánchez,

When you install Camtasia, it comes with the tsc2 codec and adds it to your system.  Other apps should be able to utilize it for decoding and encoding purposes.

The tsc2 codecs are added here: ( C:\Windows\SysWOW64 )

Will your other apps decode the AVI properly if you add a copy of the 64-bit version to C:\Windows\System32 ?
