How to blur everything on the canvas except for the subject?

I'm a frequent user of Camtasia on Windows and love it. One problem I've encountered is when I'm doing something like an interview or a talking head segment and I want to blur all of the canvas EXCEPT for the star of the video. For example, if someone is speaking in front of a bookcase where I don't want viewers to be able to read all of the titles of the books.

Yes, the product currently allows you to blur sections of the canvas in square or rectangular blocks. And, yes, I could take the time to drop in a bazillion blur annotations of various sizes to approximately cut-in the subject. But that is very tedious. I know I can accomplish this in Adobe using a simple multi-click feature to "mark" the shapes I do or do not want to blur.

Are there any work-arounds that make this easier? Or perhaps this is something already on the product roadmap?

Many thanks for all you do!

I suspect what you want is 1 min 40 secs into the following?

Have a Happy New Year when it arrives.
