Hi,
In the first tutorial video for Camtasia 9 (https://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-camtasia-9-3-record-edit-share.html) it has an effect where a section of the screen is cut out and enlarged, this starts at 50 seconds.
Was this done in Camtasia 9 and if so how is it achieved?
Many thanks,
Matt

Here is a short silent demo of how to do something like that.  http://www.screencast.com/t/tlt8DT9F  The basic idea is have a cropped version of the UI on a different track, and to animate that separately.  I did this on a Mac, but the same steps will work on a PC.

Matt,

Just to add to what Stephen said, if you look on the tutorial pages you can download a zip which contains the unproduced Camtasia project, so you can open it up in the editor and see how it works for yourself.

Hi Glenn,
You mentioned that I could download the zip file which contains the unproduced Camtasia  project for the video but I have just downloaded the zip file from the page (https://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-camtasia-9-3-record-edit-share.html) and it is a different video.
Is this correct or should it be the same video? (maybe someone put the wrong link on the page?)
Thanks,
Matt

Something is definitely wrong.  The project should match the video.  Hopefully we can fix this on Monday.

Hi Glenn, I’m an instructional designer on the Camtasia team and I thought I’d jump into the conversation to help clarify a few things. First of all, Stephen did an excellent job describing how to make a section of a UI pop out. The way he explained it is exactly how it was done in our videos.

As for the project files, our tutorial pages no longer include the project files for the tutorial videos. In their place, are the files for the project that is being shown during the video.  This allows people to follow along with what we’re teaching.

Lastly, if you need more help creating an effect similar to the one in the tutorial video, feel free to send me any questions you may have.

Thanks,
