other person is extremely faint. I increased the audio but
then my voice was unbearably loud
I selected "record system audio".
Is the problem with the fact that I had "speakers = my headset"
instead of the computer speakers?
I will appreciate knowing how to solve this issue
What speed is your internet connection? Just wondering if the audio is getting mangled during the capture.
What is the sound like when you do a simple screen record while on a site like YouTube for example?
the audio going through your headset or through your
if I use Total Recorder to record audio, it usually does a
good job of recording both sides of the conversation.
My audio is set to come through my headset and I
can hear the other speaker very clearly - though,
not on the Camtasia recording... it's mumbled and
thank you for your help, Paul
There is an easy and awesome solution in CS8. Iffy for CS9.
Select the audio track, or a range,
Enable "Enable Volume Leveling"
You can try the various levels but the default "Medium" has worked great.
Afterwards, you may want to increase the volume level, being careful not to clip.
Recording both System and Microphone during a Skype session is fruitless. First, your voice is picked up in the System sound and much louder on the Microphone. Second, the two sounds are not synched so, and after a very short time it becomes very annoying.
The microphone is one input, the system audio a separate input.
The system sound input has no way to record you on the mic (unless you have "Listen to device..." enabled, which I doubt.
Ok so...to the problem.
What I would suggest is using screen recorder to capture only system audio and screen on say a YouTube video and see how the audio turns out.
If you can do that then report back, we can at least try and establish if the issue is maybe your Skype settings or something a bit more sinister with your computer settings (I'm assuming your on PC, please correct me if that's wrong)
Now, my employer and I had a skype meeting and
he shared his screen and used Camtasia to record.
he said that he recorded his mic and system audio
when I played back his recording, both his voice
and mine were clear and easy to hear.
He and I both have the same Plantronics Game Con
headset so I know that's not the issue.
I do have the skype set to pass the audio through
my headset and not speakers. is that the culprit?
OK... I just recorded a youtube video with system
audio only (no mic) and the audio on Camtasia
recording was perfect.
Are you using a laptop or have an external webcam?
If so check Skype --> Call --> Audio Settings... and I bet you the mic is set for the laptop / webcam mic which will be causing the issue ;)
Check just now and let me know, I'm heading offline in about an hour ;)
