I received an email saying there were "free bonus" assets. How do I import and use them on Camtasia Mac.  Is there a folder somewhere I should put them?

One possibility is to unpack and import the files to the library, but then you would not get the assets directly in the correct folder...

Why do they not show you how to install them? Giving you free software is not a gift if you can't install it and use it.

I agree for Mac users at least all Software companies that deal with MacUsers, seem to be Passive aggressive. They are willing to create and sell software to MacUsers. But seem unwilling or lack interest giving proper instructions.  Or maybe its that Software kind of feel obligated to create Mac software But lack the right people to support it because of half-hearted obligation.

I promise you that is not the case- we simply didn't realize that people would need some help on using these for Mac. Quite understandable, and honestly there's been just as much confusion on the Windows side. We're learning what makes it easier and what kind of guidance is needed with this.

Agree, they have given us a problem for the Christmas holidays - it may be free but it's cost me a lot of time with no result!  Camtasia's ratings has gone down several notches with this.

Camtasia for Windows has a "library" for content to be held inside of Camtasia for quick access when working on your projects. Camtasia for Mac does not yet have this. So, there is no special folder where you need to put them- just unzip that file (by double clicking on it, or choosing 'open' from your browser after it finishes downloading), and move that whole folder somewhere convenient for you- perhaps your ~/Movies folder. To use them, drag them right into a project you are working on.

For easy preview in Finder, just hit the spacebar when you have one of these assets selected.

We do realize that this is not as convenient as a Library, and lacks thumbnails, etc. We still thought it better to give you the assets even if you don't have a library yet on Mac.

OK.  So, how do you import it into Windows 7?  I've got the same issue.

I've been told we updated the zip file to include install instructions.

Sorry for the trouble,

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled New add-on freebie software installation instructions.

Hey TechSmith!  Thanks for the freebie software for my Camtasia 9.  But it would really be nice to have instructions on how to get it into the program on my Win 7 machine.

The content of this post has been removed by the TechSmith Community Admin as it contained instructions that could be potentially harmful to your installation of Camtasia.

Well that means Mac Users can't use the  package so if  you make such available  in future please put a notation they are unavailable for Mac Users. Or Create a Version of Camtasia and Snagit  Mac that uses a Library system similar to the PC version so such things can easily be added

Hi pjonesCET;

Mac users can absolutely use the assets in a project, they simply need to unzip the package and then import their desired asset into their project (click here to see how). As Paul stated earlier in this thread, "Camtasia for Mac does not yet have this" [emphasis: mine]. We are looking to implement a similar system for the Mac, when that will be available, we do not know; in the meantime use the aforementioned method to successfully use the free assets in a Camtasia project on the Mac.

The email I received was sent from a non-TechSmith domain. Since there is an installable file, I assumed it was a virus.

Rob Pannoni, did you purchase from a third party? I purchased from Techsmith this time. Last time from someone else, so, if the bonus is offered by a third party seller that may be why I didn't get a notification.

No, I purchased direct. I think it's just a function of how TechSmith does it's email blasts.

The From address on the special offer email was "email@techsmith.messages4.com". Many phishing attempts and viruses use the trick of putting the company name in the return address of a different domain. So I never open anything in an email that's not from the actual domain of the vendor.

Now that I have confirmation that it was actually send by TechSmith, I went ahead and installed it.

I was able to download some of their regular bonuses, but if this was a new, Christmas Bonus, I wasn't notified. I can't even find the bonus page anymore.
