It's worth noting that Camtasia is not officially supported on Windows Server 2012.  This means we've not tested it.  It may work, and you're welcome to try.  But we make no guarantees, so you're on your own if there are problems.

If you need to create training for Windows Server 2012, you might consider using Remote Desktop and then recording the content of the Remote Desktop window.  This would allow Camtasia to run on a machine that is supported, while still allowing you to create training content for the administration of your server.

You can use this same approach with virtual machines (VMs).  You can create a VM where the guest OS is whatever you want to record.  Camtasia is installed on the host OS machine, typically a Windows PC or a Mac.  Run the VM and record it with Camtasia.

If done correctly, the viewer of your content will be none the wiser, and you'll be able to keep your production environment clean.

Hope this helps.
