How to install the v19 upgrade?

I have v2018 still installed and just purchased/downloaded the v19 upgrade.

Q: How am I to proceed now?

Should I keep v2018 until v19 is installed?
(v19 is an upgrade, maybe it requires detection of an installed v2018)
Can/may I first uninstall v2018 prior to installing v19 ?

Probably this is outlined somewhere, but I vainly searched for it.

You can keep both versions installed if you want to. There is no pecking order to follow.
If it were me,I would install 2019 first.Just to insure all my 2018 setting and files were available in 2019.

If you do uninstall version 2018, make sure you save your files. Provided you want to save your unsaved .snags, custom capture profiles, etc.

Joe, Toni, thank you both.

Toni - I went your way (Joe I read your post just now)

Obviously I first exported all the presets.
I then used Revo Uninstaller - it used the uninstaller of SnagIt, which is  asking you if you want to keep files
Keep Files - "I plan to reinstall or have upgraded Snagit. Keep myunsaved captures, flags, keywords, and capture information".
This option is tagged by default.

Once done Revo Uninstaller scans for additional stuff that has not been removed by SnagIt uninstaller (i.e. quite a bunch of registry settings, 200+ keys and folders on C:\ viz 83 folders with a total size of 285MB).
After that I installed SnagIt 2019, imported the presets.

Everything went fine and basically it is done.
Piece of cake.

Possibly some minor personal tweaks are still required, like importing your own stamps, but that's it.

Thanks again.

Small additional note:
I don't know if it is possible at all..(!)
but IF it is possible indeed, then try to save your own theme stuff: arrows, circles, callouts, whatever.
I didn't check that, so I need to recreate my own callout boxes, etc.
Just a tip.

I don't understand why they didn't just make it UPGRADABLE instead of this. It should just be updating the original file.

I have now installed 19 and was going to uninstall 18. However, I understand that I'll lose all my 18 files still in 18. How d I move them to 19? Then I can remove 18?

If Camtasia 2018 is installed the 2019 will perform a migration that moves all application settings / files over to Camtasia 2019. Individual projects from 2018 will be migrated to 2019 when they are opened in Camtasia 2019. Keeping 2018 installed and performing the 2019 install is the recommended path.

I liked your answer ... because it reports a sensible procedure for an upgrade installation of Camtasia.  BUT does the SAME procedure hold true for SnagIt?  They are different software!
