I really like the new intro video for Camtasia Studio - especially some of the effects you are using

I would like to know how you created some of the effects:
a) The windows appearing in a way that they appear from small dot to large full window (e.g., appearance of Camtasia recorder at 0.27).
b) Removing the grayed out effect of only part of the screen using a rolling effect. (0:13-0:18)
c) Introducing buttons and menu items onto the screen that were previously not shown/hidden (0.58/ 1.15).
b) Is the background music used is available to general users?
c) Can we access the Camtasia project for this video clip? Thanks

most of what you describe can easily be accomplished using callouts and animations

have you watched all the CS8 tutorial videos?

Hi there

I tossed together a small tutorial on animating the object. Perhaps it will help.

Hi Rick,

Thanks, your video is very helpful. Yes I have watch the CS8 tutorials, and do use animations, but couldn't quite get making it bigger, so thanks!

Can you help me with the appearing of icons, and the selective shading also?

Thanks!

Rochelle

Happy to do that but will take some time. I'll put something together later this afternoon. ;)

Hi Rick,

I really appreciate you taking the time out to make these explanatory movies. Though I have used animation effect, and spotlight before, it's really helpful to have your input.

If you look at the original movie that I reference, above, I see that there are three separate places, that are simultanously 'hidden' and then 'revealed' one by one - at timeline between 0:15-0:18, in the movie. I'm particularly interested in how this effect is achieved.

are there 3 different spotlight/shadow callouts used, and an effect applied to each one to 'remove' the callout from each area?

How do you get the 'scroll' effect that 'removes' each gray area, one by one?

Many thanks

Rochelle

Hmmm, hard to actually say exactly how they did it without seeing the source files. But it looks to me as if they are simply animating some mock ups of the Camtasia editor/

Maybe TechSmith will pop in to advise and perhaps show us a "making of" sort of movie that shows exactly what they did!

Hellooooooo, TechSmith? ;)

Cheers... Rick :)

rochelle,

here's the animation effect you were inquiring about. It's really a pretty simple animation to create but it requires a lot of steps.
Watch this video. http://www.screencast.com/t/KNadES3ls
