Make sure the Text tool or the Move tool is selected in the tool bar first. Then you should be able to select the existing text and edit it.

I can edit text if I have Not Flattened the image. ( which is similar to burning in the text and lines, etc. )
When I want to, later, edit an image I save it with a different filename before flattening.
Use the Selection icon at the top to select a text object or any added object.

I didn't realize you were working with SnagIt 12 or 13 "Judging from the image"

If i remember correctly, and the .snag has not been flattened. Clicking the text box/callout is all that should be required.
SnagIt 12 ans 13 switches tools automatically, based on tool required. It was one of the features that irritated me about those versions
Because it you clicked a text  box accidentally, when you meant to click an Arrow or Stamp or something else. The cursor switched to the text tool. The newer versions of SnagIt: 2018 and 2019 won't do that to you.

If your clicking editable text and an't edit it.It's probably became flattened for some reason.

I would consider placing a callout with a solid colored background over the existing text.

When I save my file 2 months ago, all I do is save it in snag format.  What do you mean by flattened ? (i don't use this fonction)

Flattened is the equivalent of No Longer Editable.

In this image I have the number 1 "Step" selected.
If you right click you can chose to "Flatten" that Step. Or "Flatter All"
"Flatten all" flattens every editable object in the image.

I'm not saying you flattened anything.I'm just saying if you cannot edit your text by selecting it. It's "Probably" flattened.

You could try a Repair install or Reinstall of SnagIt.In case the program has become corrupt.
I doubt that's the problem, but its worth a shot.
Repair installs are quick and easy. You run them from the control panel. SnagIt repairs itself without a complete reinstall. Most personal settings remain untouched. So its less intrusive than a reinstall.

Might also be worth clicking the tool you used so it's selected. Then try clicking the text and see if it's editable. I've seen it before where I saved a snag and was forced to actually click the tool first in order to make changes later.

Hi Rick, no i select the good tool and nothing selected.  I use snag it in entreprise, so i don't have any access to install programs.  But I suggest to my entreprise to buy the latest version of snag it (we use actually a 2014 version).  Thank you all for your answers !
