How to quickly restore part of a ripple delete

I use ripple delete a lot to cut out purts of my recordings. Sometimes I cut a little too much and I have to recover a part of what I deleted upon reviewing.

To recover I am now using the following procedure:
  • unstitch the two clips
  • move to the right everything at the right of the cut, to create space
  • click and drag the edge of the left clip until I recover what I need
  • select everything on the right of the cut
  • drag it back to remove the remainig empty space
This is far too complex. I'd like to be able to drag the edge of the left clip and at the same time move everything else to the right.
Is this possible?

There's no magic bullet but there's a quicker method.

Place the playhead over the stitch. Hold the Shift key and slide all the media to the right.
The one drawback to this technique is it will split any media the playhead is in contact with. Like a title or image above. "Or below"
Once you've extended your clip.
Place the timeline indicator next to the media on the right, hold shift and drag it back. You don't have to be precise. Just slam it home, you can overshoot by miles. It will automatically stop when it hits the other clip.

So, is there really still no way to just select a stitch an somehow "restore" it so that it expands to the original track (pre-ripple delete)?
