Whenever I bring up the Snagit capture box below to capture a screenshot image, and then I do the capture, the box is in the image. How do I delete it before capturing the image?

Just found my answer when noodling around the SNAGIT preferences area. In Capture Settings, check the first box (the default on mine was unchecked) and Snagit hides when captuing.

Look in the General tab. I have "Capture Window & One Click Tab" as my choice. In the Capture tab, I do not have hiding turned on. As a result, there is a several pixels wide blue tab on the edge of my screen that becomes a flyout when the cursor arrow touches it. The flyout automatically hides and never is in a screenshot. And I only see the full blown capture dialog box if I manually click on the Snagit icon up in the Menu Bar.

I have set so that using short cut keys  shift-Control-S bring up the cross-hairs and the orange short cut box which disappear after you have selected what you want to make a screenshot for. Then click show editor to add annotations and such.

Just to clarify: Shift-Control-S is the default shortcut and does not need custom setup. Check the Keyboard tab for several other shortcut key combinations.
