In Camtasia 7, recording has a section where audio is fine but video stays with single slide. Another Camtasia 7 recording of it has bad audio, but video is OK. How do I replace unwanted video while leaving audio intact? Or is there another way of solving this? Am beginner with Camtasia.

Hello,
If the video is a .camrec or .trec recording, you can separate the audio from the video by right-clicking the recording file on the the timeline and choosing Separate video and audio from the context menu. The recording is split into separate clips on the timeline. Then, just delete the video portion.

If the recording is NOT a .camrec or .trec recording file, you can just re-record the video portion and put it over the top of the original recording and it will cover the old video with the new video and the sound will be the original audio.

They are both camproj files - have not completed editing of main recording (A) - Are you saying I have to start over with the .camrec files - get that portion replaced, then do the editing that is completed over again? Not a humongous task; but don't want to redo work if not necessary. Thanks for your help.

In Camtasia 7 you need to "Un-link the video and audio" to separate them. It cannot be done from the timeline at all. " I Believe"
I haven't used version 7 in a very long time so I don't remember the exact steps but there is an Icon or something like that to select. It's in the tracks area to the far left side of the timeline

Thanks, Joe - I must have found that accidentally, because I do believe I have deleted the audio track from one - now need to figure out how to move the video that's left over to the other .rec/.proj file :-)

Ok - I think it's just the terminology I'm trying to get used to. I have deleted the bad audio from the "extra" .rec file. Now how do I save it or copy it so as to paste it or import it into the "good" .rec file?
