Copying to the clipboard is enough, no longer automatically saved to a file.

You do not need to save it to a file automatically. Whenever you clean up files you no longer need in the library.

This is not an acceptable answer. We shouldn't have to run cleanup on our files. All we need is a checkbox option added in that allows it not to be autosaved.

Totally agree... it's a waste of time. Mojave now has a nice built in feature to quickly mark up images so hopefully Snagit will get this corrected otherwise more Mac users will probably just switch.

I only need to copy to the clipboard, I don't need to save it to a file automatically. Every time I have to clean up the files that are no longer needed in the library.

I had same issue and posted on same forum months ago. No response from Snagit.

Snagit is by far one of the best applications...
#1 - It doesn't change color profiles when capturing... OMG there are so many tools that get this wrong.
#2 - I can preset so I have one for capture + edit and capture + paste into Affinity Designer. Yay.

However, the autosave is killing me! Why not let us disable this? I take 50+ screenshots per day, I'm a writer and they are all throw away images after saving to file, or copy pasting with Snagit to Affinity Designer.

Please bring this feature back on the Mac.

    Update:

There are two reasons why we don't want autosave:

    1. When first launching the Snagit editor, sometimes it will take a while to load because it's loading all the past autosave in the bottom preview thumbnails.

    2. It takes up unnecessary disk space. Many of us, including myself, are using Snagit as a way to save screenshots to simply upload elsewhere like WordPress. But we aren't using Snagit as a library.

Seeing other new tickets opened about this as well (https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/how-to-remove-images-from-recent-captures-mac-os

Please just allow us to turn off the autosave + thumbnails.

Another reason I don't want auto save is privacy and security. I often take screenshots of sensitive information (e.g. to email), yet the screenshots are saved and hidden away. I also don't want them shown at the bottom of the SnagIt tool as sometimes I'm sharing my screen and I then realise people can see things I didn't mean to share. Please allow disabling auto-saving and configure not to show recent screenshots.
