How can I get view stats for my Camtasia Relay videos?

Camtasia Relay can post videos to a number of hosting sites that have view stats built in, like Screencast.com and YouTube.

For self-hosted videos, you can edit some
files on the server to add your own Google Analytics code to the player page (assuming you're using the Smart Player output).

The file to edit is:

%INSTALLDIR%\TechSmith\Relay Server\Manager\Media\SmartPlayer_player.html

Adding your Google Analytics script to that page will track pageviews. Google Support has a helpful article on how to set up web tracking code.

Perry,

Being able to track the viewing statistics is dependent upon the place where you're sending the content.  We do have instructions listed above on where you can add Google Analytics code to the Smart Player template that Camtasia Relay uses if you'd like to use that to track viewing statistics.  Basically, our player template can be modified for your group to add some tracking codes to it, whether it be Google Analytics or something else.

Perry,

The standard version of Google Analytics is free.  I would start off by looking at this page:  http://www.google.com/analytics/learn/setupchecklist.html

And then just try out to start the first part which is the "Install tacking code" link.  It's pretty straightforward.  You'll copy some JavaScript into the head tag of the Camtasia Relay player page.

After that, learning how to make sense of all the data they provide will take you a much longer time.  :)  Good luck.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
