How do I change the Camtasia Studio tool language from German to English?

I work for a German company and after I requested Camtasia Studio, it appears that I have now received the German version of Camtasia Studio.  Is there a way to change the Camtasia Studio UI language or would that require a different installation?

When you start the setup, you need to choose which language you want (EN, DE, FR) to intall. I guess you need to reinstall Camtasia.

That's not acceptable at all :( I reckon one should be able to switch between languages without requiring a new install.

Hi Sven,

I'm sorry for the trouble! Are you in need of an English version of the product? If so, please let me know.

Thank you!

Has this problem been addressed yet?
I have just installed Camtasia through my company (German based) and it is in German, I can't find a way to change it to English

Unfortunately the company I work at also blocks google translate for data privacy :(

I have decided to watch the tutorials in English and hopefully use it as a guide.

German colleagues here seem to use https://dict.leo.org, perhaps that'll work for you

For those having this issue, is there no way to work with your IT department to download and install a single instance of the English version of Camtasia on your computer?

You would need to download the English version of the software from our website and install it directly on your computer. Perhaps if you ask your IT department, they will help you out with this?

Dear Kelly,

Yes I have asked the IT department if they have an English version available (German one given by default) and if not, can they get one. Hopefully this will solve my problem. I have been using the English tutorials as a guide so far and have managed to achieve what I need to.

As mentioned earlier, in large companies software is "packaged" and when people request a software this package is made available (after licenses have been checked) and can be installed (with limited options to the user).  Requesting the software in a different language would require a new/update to the packaged software ... and you do NOT want to go through this process.

Having said that, I honestly reckon you are trying to solve the problem from the wrong end.  In this day and age it should be possible to swap between languages without having to uninstall and reinstall the software.

Hi info,

What are you needing to do, exactly? As Sven mentioned, you cannot simply turn Camtasia Studio into the desired language with an OS switch. Maybe this will be possible some day but it is not possible now.

However, we do have a German, English, and Japanese version available. You can download those versions from our website and install them on your computer. You will, however, need to change your language pack over to the language you need in order to see all of the menus, options, etc in the language you need.

Please let me know if you need more information than this.

You need to go into your Windows Control Panel and choose your Language Preferences to German or English. In that dialog box, change everything you see to that language in the drop down menus. This is different in each version of Windows so maybe google your version to see where those options are.

You need to download and install the German, English, or Japanese version of Camtasia Studio. There is no French version in the current release.
You can find the language specific version you need here on the desired language of the TechSmith website:

If you are looking to run Camtasia in English on a German system, you might need to use this handy little tool to overwrite the system default: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/app-language-chooser/id451732904
