How do I make the background of an image entirely transparent?

I am using SnagIt number stamps as images in my documentation. The background in my documentation is not white, so I made the white background of the number stamps transparent and saved the images as .gif files. However, not all of the white background is transparent in the final image; there seems to be a sort of white halo around the number and on the inside part of the number. I got one number to look perfect (7), but all of the others still have the white halo.

Please help!

Hi Jill,
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry, those stamps it would be very difficult to have a "clean" transparency around them because they have various shades and you would need to replace each pixel.

A possible workaround is to use something like the Numbers:Digits stamps or you could create a Callout, save it as a quick style and then change the number.

Here's a link to the additional stamps:

I will also add your idea to our product backlog so we can have more stamp options with transparency.

Please let us know if you have any more feedback.

Thank you,
Tiffany

I wonder why the number 7 looked fine, but none of the others did...

O well, I'll look into using different numbers that don't require that I use transparency.

Thanks Tiffany!
