I am reimaging my computer and need to be able to use Camtasia Studio 7 after the reimage. Is there a way to deactivate the license and reactivate it once I the re-image is completed? I just bought the license a few months ago.

Hi Paul,

To transfer your license to a different computer, simply uninstall from the current computer and reinstall on to the new computer with the same license and download information.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Ok lets say I downloaded the software on two computers but for some reason both computers died and the hard drive cant be accessed on both. Is there a way to reinstall on a new computer or would it be considered as a third so therefore will haft to buy new one?

Hi,  just following up from Paul's query... what if was unable to uninstall the software (due to a catastrophic crash, for example), would he still be able to reinstall?

Hi Steve,
Yes, you should still be okay. We trust and respect our customers and our activation and software key system is quite user-friendly in this respect.

Yes you can.

You can download and install a new or an older version from this link. Selecting the "Free Trial" Icon will download the newest version.

Hi,
Just to build upon Joe's answer a bit:

If you previously had version 6, then you will not be able to use the same key for say, version 7 or 8. But, you can reinstall version 6 on your new computer.

Also, if you purchased a key for say, 6.0, you are able to install any version of 6 using that key. You do not have to install version 6.0 then sequentially upgrade to the other versions of 6. Nor are you stuck at version 6.0 even if you never upgraded to any other version of 6. The same principle applies to versions 7 or 8.

Overall, via the terms of the software's EULA, when you purchase TechSmith software, you are actually purchasing a license to the software that does not expire. So, if your computer breaks down, or you get a new computer, move, change internet service providers, etc. you can legally reinstall the version of software you paid for.

Also, if you have a key to one version, say version 8, that key will work with most of the backward versions. So, you could move from version 8 to 6 using the same key.

You still can only have two versions of the software (any versions) installed on two computers at one time. And, only one can be in use at any time.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you need more information concerning your software license.

Hi, a short question on this topic: is it possible that we install Studio 8 along Ver7 and use the same licence key? We need to use both versions due to different customer's requests.

We would have both versions installed but of course work with only one at a time :)

Thank you for a short feedback

Yes you can. However, you must have a valid activation key for Camtasia 8. Your current Camtasia 7 key can only activate version 7 and any previous version. Camtasia activation keys can only activate a previous version of Camtasia along with the original version it was purchased for.

Hi fflattery,
By node locked, do you mean you have an enterprise or shared workstation version?
If so, is that license being managed by an admin at your company?
Or, do you have a standalone license you yourself purchased?
