I have recorded a 5-min video using Jing and now want to upload it to YouTube. How do I do that? I read something about needing Jing Pro..what is my next step?

Hey Peter,

Jing Pro is actually being retired next month. You can see the release here: http://www.techsmith.com/jing-pro-ret...

In order to upload directly to Youtube, I would say using Snagit would be your best bet. You can take it for a spin with a free 30 day trial here: http://www.techsmith.com/download/sna...

Of course, you can always save the movie to your computer from Jing, and than upload to Youtube manually. EDIT: Forgot to mention, like Unicus says below, you will need a converter to do this.

Hope this helps!

I recommend using VIP Video Converter, which will allow you to convert Jing's video file to MP4 and then quickly upload it to YouTube.

Peter, you would have to use Jing Pro, which records in MP4, or Snagit 11 which records in MP4.

The video created by the free version of Jing is NOT compatible with YouTube. You will get an error if you upload this Shockwave file. It's not supported by YouTube.

There are online converters, but I have not tried them. Your only hope is Snagit 11.

Techsmith is making a big mistake by removing MP4 from Jing. They are wrecking a perfectly good program, just to boost sales of Snagit.

I have to do my videos over anyhow because they are outdated.  Too bad, Jing was a great program for its time...but YouTube is the future and so videos must be YouTube compliant.

You will have to Google them, be careful that some don't contain malware. If you find one, do some research on it, peoples reviews, etc.

I have Jing Pro and record in MP4, I also have Snagit 11 and Camtasia Studio. They are all MP4 video.
