My school bought me my own single-use license for SnagIt and Camtasia. How many computers can I load this on? Right now, it is loaded on my school desktop, home desktop, and I would like to put it on my laptop as well.

You may install your single license on both a desktop and laptop (or a home computer and work computer). As long as both are being utilized by the same user, and both computers are not in use at the same time, this is considered a valid concurrent use of SnagIt and Camtasia Studio, which is described in detail under your license agreement.

If you need to put the program on a third laptop, you would need to have a second license.

If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Kind regards,
Marissa

Hi there,

Yes, you would just go through the installation as you had before on your previous machine. Keep in mind that our software keys are version specific so if you need to download a previous version instead please visit the following link: http://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions.asp

If you need to retrieve your software key in order to do so, please submit a help ticket at support.techsmith.com with any order information you can provide and we will be happy to help!

Marissa Blaski What do you mean both being used at the same time? Like is it where Snagit can't be used at the same time or the computer?

You can install and activate SnagIt on 2 computers using your activation key.

You must own both of the computers.

You can only utilize SnagIt on one computer at a time.

So if you are using SnagIt on one computer you cannot simultaneously be running SnagIt on the other.
Which, would be kind of difficult to do anyway.

I am one week into my 30 day trial and will probably purchase it. However, I am concerned that the license I install on my corporate PC will only be temporary (I may retire within a year). I will want to move it from the corporate PC to my personal PC at that time. Does my purchase allow me to have it loaded on one PC at a time, i.e. how can I take my personal license purchase with me and move it to my home/personal PC once I retire (without paying for another license)?

How do I carry over my license from my old computer to my new one? We have several licenses, but when I try to enter my key on my new computer, it's throwing up an error (invalid key).

Hello Lucas, the process is pretty straightforward, and should be as simple as doing what you describe. My hunch then, is that there is an error in the key somewhere. One common problem is that people try to use a Snagit 10 key for Snagit 11, for example. The keys are version-specific.

We also have a key lookup tool if you'd like to re-obtain the keys just to be sure: http://www.techsmith.com/support/lost...

I am also assuming you are using Snagit, is that correct?

You can open a case and work directly with one of our people in Customer Service. You can do that here: http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/uti...

We'll get this resolved!
Sorry for the hassle,

That was indeed the problem (version 10 on the old computer and version 11 on the new one). Thanks!

Given the amount of computers people use on a daily basis, I think limiting the concurrent installations to two is rather annoying. On an average day I use 4 computers (work PC, work laptop, home PC and home laptop) but I need to buy two licenses in order to use SnagIt on each of those......SnagIt is a great tool don't get me wrong but this policy alone has me looking for other options.

Well, that is another thing I liked about jing Pro: it is computer independent, you could install it on as many machines you needed it, then you would have to log in your account to use it. Other software are beginning to use this methods, and I like it. I don't care if TechSmith needs me on line in order to validate my account and let me use the software....

Hi Matt,

To get up and running on your new machine, you would need to reinstall using the download link and software key provided on your receipt of purchase.

Did you need some assistance locating your key and download link?

Kind regards,
Marissa

Hello!

I have now used SnagIt about three weeks, and soon it's a time to pay it for you.
However, in our family there are two laptops, mine and my wife's.
Have I to pay two SnagIt, or is it possible to use SnagIt in other laptop too?
If it is possible, how can I do it?

Best regards

Appear I can run both mac and pc using the same license code.

I have snagit on my home computer and want to add it to my work computer. Can i later remove it from my work computer and put it on another personal computer?
Either way it would only be on two computers at one time - but three computer would have been used.

As long as the program only resides on 2 computers at the same time. You follow the user guidelines listed above . You can change computers as often as you like.
