Hi Rick,

There's currently no way to do this directly.

One workaround is to choose Edit > Rotate Image... (⌘+R), then input 90.

Does that help?

Conan.

Good tip, thanks. The problem is that printing landscape is absolutely expected. So when it's not obviously present, some (like me) are inclined to diligently attempt to figure out how to do it, wasting time. This is especially tough given that around 70% of what I want to print, I want to print landscape.

In summary: Tip - good. No landscape printing - bad. No indication to the user that this "standard" feature is not supported - really, really bad.

Otherwise great product!

Actually there is a way to do it (at least in version 3.2.2).

File-->Page Setup. The "Orientation" option lets you choose Landscape.

But note that your selection will not be persistent. If you want to print multiple captures in a row, you'll need to change this setting for each image. :-/

Changing orientation in version 3 worked, but it does not work in version 4.

There needs to be a way to choose landscape/portrait from the Print dialog. And a way to choose the "optimal" way to print, based on the aspect ratio of the image (automatically choose landscape when appropriate).  And (while I'm writing),

• there needs to be a way to indicate that the image should fill the printed page.
• it would be so helpful to have a way to print the date and filename on the page, too.
• The HyperSnap app on Windows does many useful things that are missing in Snagit/Mac, including these.

Make the Print dialog like the one in Safari.

Very annoying that the system cannot remember landscape preference in MacOs version.

Hey,

This issue is fixed in our latest update. Once you change the orientation in page setup, it will be remembered when you open the print dialog.

Sorry - you're right, I made a mistake.  The issue I meant to address was being able to change orientation within the print menu itself, rather than needing to change it in setup, then opening print; that will eliminate a step for those of us who move from one prientation to another frequently.  Something to consider, anyway.

Is there a way to change the orientation for printing?

Hi,

If you go to the File menu and choose Page Setup, that will open a dialog where you can choose landscape or portrait.

It would be handy to have a link to Print Setup... in the Print dialog. That would make it more obvious and save a couple of steps.

The instructions should say - go to File - Print - Page Setup - Paper when looking for the orientation.  I scoured all the options on the FILE menu drop down and finally found the page setup under the print but than had to go deeper under Paper to find the orientation.
It was not as obvious as it should be.
Hal, I did put "Page Setup" on the Toolbar menu so it is easily accessible.
Which works well for me.  I am an 'old, old' woman so I need things to simple...

Happy Snagiting!
