I've installed the Snagit 12 upgrade. Unfortunately I could not find any way to change the ugly dark UI color theme in Snagit Editor. It gives me the impression to be in a mortuary...

I am sure the guys at TechSmith were smart enough to provide a choice for the user to select between different UI color themes. So where can I change it?

You change it by uninstalling version 12 and installing an earlier version with a more pleasing color scheme. ;)

Hopefully TechSmith will hear from enough disgruntled users that they will change their stance and offer some options for adjusting it in a future update.

Cheers... Rick :)

It's not only the color scheme. The icons on the Quick Access Toolbar in Snagit Editor were always particularly ugly because of:
  • Inconsistent design
  • Inconsistent colors
  • Different sizes
Now with this dark theme the icons on the Quick Access Toolbar have become even more ugly. They also have a low contrast and they do not clearly reflect their functionality.

So if TechSmith decides to make only the workspace color customizable then this would hurt even more the eye of the user: Imagine the contrast between e.g. a soft blue workspace color and the current dark theme on the toolbars - sensitive persons could get a visual shock...

To get a "modern" design, Axialis has an excellent high quality set of FLAT icons:

If TechSmith would use that it would make the user interface in Snagit Editor very pleasant!

I would agree.  Hated the change on the iPhone, even worse here.  The minimalist design makes me feel like I've downgraded and jumped back into the 90's.  The dark color scheme is terrible. Icons are bad.  The tool may be better, it just doesn't look like it.  Blah!
