Hi All,

I used Camtasia Studio 7 to create FLV video without any problem. I just upgraded my Camtasia Studio to 8, but cannot find the FLV video output. Please help. Thanks!

Kind regards,

Mel

FLV is no longer supported.
MP4 plays on more platforms than can FLV.
You can still make FLV with 7.1.1 but it is best practise now to only use MP4.

See this article about file formats

Hope this helps

Hi,

Thank you very much for your quick reply. However, my server can only use the FLV videos. Is there anyway I can "downgrade" the Camtasia? How about reinstall that?

Thanks!

Kind regards,

Mel

Hi Mel,

You can always download older versions of our software from the following location:

Camtasia Studio 7 and 8 can be installed alongside each other, so feel free to keep both installed.

I ran into the same issue you did. I wish I knew this BEFORE I purchased the upgrade. Where I understand why FLV is no longer supported, favored to MP4, I also use Captivate to create eLearning modules, which will only let me import FLV files and not MP4, therefore, I have to go through a second conversion now, which reduces the quality.

What a bummer, Techsmith should realy consider adding flv back on a service pack, many of the legacy players in the elearning environments will work with flv only, big dissapointment for what was an outstanding product,

True you can still run 7.1 along side, took for granted all the positives from previous releases and missed the release note saying they would no longer produce FLV

You can run 7.1 alongside, but it is asking me for another license.  I don't want to pay for another license when I already have 8 purchased...  I like MP4 much better, but my job requires me to use flv formats.
