I have a video thats about 20 mins long. I want to split that video into two separate videos so that I may upload them to YouTube. I can split them, but I don't know how to make one of the parts its own separate video.

If you are using Camtasia Studio, you can make a selection on the timeline and then right-click on that selection and choose "Produce selection as". This opens the Production Wizard for you to produce out that selected portion of your timeline. You can then repeat this same process for the second part of your timeline.

Here's a short video to show you the process:

**I should note that in the video I split my video clip on the timeline into two...just like you stated you did in your example above. You do not have to make a split for this to work, since you can just drag and select any portion of your timeline, and then produce that selection. Just wanted to make that clear...

If you are using Camtasia for Mac, then this process is different. Let me know if you need that process and I'll try and help.

Thanks,
-Ryan

That is also so 3 years ago. :)  As of Camtasia for Mac 2.9 you can export just the region of the timeline that is selected.   Just select the region you are interested in, and then use your preferred option under the Share menu to just export and share the selected region.

delillahcraft,

You can split a video by selecting it and pressing cmd+T.

To export two or more parts from one project, see Stephen Wagner's comment above:

"Just select the region you are interested in, and then use your preferred option under the Share menu to just export and share the selected region."

To make two projects, select and copy a region from one project and paste it in a blank project.

Hope that helps,

Conan.

If you just want to cut your videos to two shorter videos, maybe you can use this easy-to-use video trimming tool: Joyoshare Media Cutter.

Hi Aria,

That's a great question, and one that I'm probably not the best to answer, but I'll do my best. First, I'm going to break it down into two parts: 1) how to create a video, and 2) how to become famous.

Step 1: Create a video

You may have noticed that TechSmith makes some great video creation tools, the foremost being Camtasia. I personally like Camtasia for Mac the best, but I think that's mostly due to my operating system biases.

After getting Camtasia, I'd suggest watching at least the getting started videos for Camtasia on your operating system of choice. You can find them here: http://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-camtasia.html or here: http://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-camtasia-mac.html

These will show you the mechanics of creating a great video, or at least the basics of that process. Possibly, you'll want to watch all of the videos and practice to become really good.

Step 2: Become Famous

While there are lots of ways to get famous, I'm going to assume that you'd like to do so in a way that is both enriching to the world and makes you feel fulfilled. Usually this involves creating something that lots of people find valuable or entertaining and then credit you for it.

There are many paths you can take, but given the complex nature of your endeavor, I'm going to punt and send you to my good friend Mr. Google for more enlightenment: https://www.google.com/search?q=how+do+I+become+famous+with+video

And that's it. Best of luck in your quest, and I wish you much happiness once you get there.

Please keep us updated.

Generally, I only search forums when I'm frustrated and troubleshooting (read: in a bad mood). This totally made me LOL. :-D

Okay, I figured it out on my own, unfortunately, none of the comments made were any help. It is very simple. I am using Camtasia version 2.10.5 on a Mac (Yosemite), below are the simple steps that I made:
  1. Before you do anything make a BACKUP of your video file!!!
  2. Launch Camtasia.
  3. Drag the video file from a finder window into the video preview area in Camtasia. Basically, where you see the video playback.
  4. On the timeline, move the marker to the place in the timeline where you want to split the video.
  5. Right-click the marker (where the upside-down triangle is) and you should see a content menu pop-up.
  6. Select the "Split selection at playhead" menu item.
  7. Now you should have 2 videos in the timeline.
  8. Select the video you would like to export.
  9. Go to the main menu and select "Share-->Export". (keyboard shortcut = Apple+E or Command+E)
  10. Navigate to the folder/directory where you want your video saved and click "OK".
  11. The progress bar will show up and when complete, you will be prompted with 2 buttons: "Launch in Finder" or "close", choose whichever action you prefer to do next.
  12. Done.
Lastly, you can choose to keep the changes or discard them in Camtasia.

Hope this helps someone else!
